I grew up in a law enforcement family and am married to a police officer, so I understand firsthand the toll this line of work can take—on the individual and the people they love. I also know how overwhelming childhood can be when emotions are too big to manage, and when certain behaviors or strategies develop in response. Supporting both kids, and first responders and their families, has been a natural extension of my personal experience and professional expertise.
For First Responders and Their Families
Before becoming a therapist, I spent years unpacking my own developmental experiences—building the emotional resilience and insight that true wellbeing calls for. I developed skills in supporting people in crisis through roles as a probation officer, legal assistant, and home-based child welfare worker. These experiences deepened my understanding of trauma, family stress, and the vital importance of compassionate, skilled support to give voice to what often goes unspoken.
While your experiences are uniquely yours, I can often deeply relate to the circumstances—and the layers beneath them. I offer a grounded, nonjudgmental space where you can carry burdens more healthfully, regulate your nervous system, and find ways to rebuild meaningful connections with yourself and those you love.
For Kids, Teens, and Their Parents
I specialize in supporting kids and teens—especially those who struggle with hearing “no,” insist on having things their way, or who are labeled as “difficult” in school settings. I know how discouraging it can feel when simple routines turn into power struggles, or when your child’s behavior leaves you feeling helpless, exhausted, or constantly on edge. Many of these kids are carrying more than they can articulate, and it shows up in the ways they push back or shut down.
Using approaches like Child-Centered Play Therapy, art, and Trauma-Focused CBT, I help kids and teens give shape to what’s going on inside so they can build emotional regulation and feel more grounded in their world. I work closely with their parents, too—supporting them in understanding what’s underneath the behavior and helping them build more connected, trusting relationships at home. When people feel safe and seen, everything begins to shift.
My own therapy journey taught me that healing doesn’t mean forgetting the past—it means becoming the person who can carry it differently. I bring this perspective, along with warmth, honesty, and a healthy dose of humor, into every session. You don’t have to do this alone. If you feel a resonance with me, I’m here to help.
